Curious, Don't you think that maybe relying on protect-x to detect hitbots might be a little misguided for a webmaster? I am sure that the bot writers have put in code to not touch the protect-x files by now.

I say this because I have recently as per a post I made been blocking alot of ip's that are getting my hotlink images, so they are either clients that have ref blocked etc., or some other issue such as a hitbot.

But the scale of them leads me to believe that I have been under a misunderstanding for a while.

if you set up our script on the page, bot can't load a site without our button, hence protection works. I concede a hitbot can bypass hidden links on your page, but the script file can't be bypassed.

I see no connection between Protect-X hitbot detection and an assault of hotlink bots on your site.
