I just bought a new computer
Should I install vista now(as a fresh install on a new drive). I was looking at the 64bit version since I have 8 gigs of memory and a amd 64 x2.
What do you guys think?
I have xp pro which I can install, but I will not be able to use all 8 gigs of memory.
Has anyone tried vista?

Cheers,
jeff

Vista is too fresh for me to be installed for work purposes. I prefer some time pass before all bugs will be fixed and Vista Service Pack 8 will be launched Very Happy
With XP SP2 i know what vulnerabilities to wait for at least.

I just running a new comp with vista too, cannot say I like it. At one point I tried to partition it for dual boot cause some of my applications is not compatible with vista.

So is good idea you check software manufacturer to see if they have a free update for vista. But in your case not many programs are designed for 64bit application yet ( I think so anyway ).

By the way, this window defender thing and the side menu is really bugging me, I have almost disabled all these new things so at the end, it looks like XP pro on my desktop lol.

MAX: Do you ever check your private message??? I am not sure if you received mine.

I have vista on my laptop, I love it, it had a few tweaks to run faster, but it's great now
