Sending first click to gallery is a very good idea, here is why.
Say you get 100 visitors at your site.
50 of them, for whatever reason, wont even click on one thumb.
Do they not like your colors or layout?
Have they already been skimmed so many times they're not interested?
Did they already see the same content on another site?
We'll never know. But they're not going to click one damn thumb.
Now the other 50 are going to click on your site.
If your skimming a flat 60% your going to send 20 of them away on their first click.
Will they click again?
Will they be productive on the trade you sent them to?
Will they bookmark your site?
Not very likely.
Now on the other hand if you send their first click to gallery you are gaining the trust of your surfer.
They will click again since they already like your site and have not been whisked away on their first click.
Whey they are traded they will be more productive since you've built their trust level which will improve your trades since, duh, all scripts trade based on quality.
You will see an increase in bookmarks which will give you more traffic to trade.
And lastly you will see increased conversions as your surfers see more of your galleries.
If you're not sending first click to galleries you're just shooting your site in the foot.
Don't agree with my opinion? That's fine.
But don't knock it until you try it.

totally agree with you, bracey!
Some scripts (like comus) allow to modify thumbs pattern with custom skim scheme and send 2nd, 3rd or even more first clicks to gallery. I think it is good implementation for those who have a lot of bookmark traffic and fresh updated content allowing smoothly go out of blind link trading going to top list and hard link trading scheme like top players. |

Very good Bracey. I use Comus and have been doing that all along (even first two clicks on my celeb tgp) but it is good of you to let others know, and in such a well written way.

If you send all surfers to your galleries then you must not be trading traffic with others. Where do you get your traffic and how much do you get? That will help put your 1 sale into perspective. |

Because after a month of switching skims around across all my sites, it doesn't make much difference. The sites that work well with eachother still do, the one s that don't still don't. The only real change is the amount of traffic going out. And that is the most important part of a CJ site. That's what these sites are by the way. I wish everyone would stop referring to their CJ site as a TGP/MGP. If its full of FHGs and it skims traffic it's a CJ site. Also, if you look at most of the sites with huge traffic, they don't seem to give a shit about first click to gallery. And since traffic equals money...
Maybe i'll change my mind again next month
