Here are a few things I have been doing with Smart Thumbs for a few weeks now that appear to be having a positive effect on my sites so I thought I'd share them.

1) Use the Spam Protection feature. It will help filter out crap traffic.

2) Use the Click Settings feature to Count only first click on a thumb. It will keep your stats more honest and increase your site prod.

Once setup, both of these require page rebuilds to work properly.

If you want hide /st/st.php in output pages and to use filename with description instead of it (better for SEO optimalization) it you can set following rewrite url:

/gallery/%description%.html?%variables%&url=%url%&p=%skim%

and create .htaccess file with following content and place it into domain www directory:

RewriteEngine on

RewriteRule ^gallery/(.*)$ /st/st.php?%{QUERY_STRING}




FIRST CREATE .htaccess FILE AND THEN ADD REWRITE URL AND AFTER THIS REBUILD ALL PAGES!!

If you don't want set skim in your template but in your tradescript you can use this rewrite url:

/gallery/%description%.html?%variables%&url=%url%

and in teplate behind #urlX_groupY_categoryALL#60 remove skim number (in this case 60)
